And this is supposed to be just like the Left today taking pro-police TV shows off the air. Really? The essay sees some similarity here? No, those things are nothing alike. Bob Dole was not Alt-Right. Neither Bob Dole nor the Alt-Right have taken anything off the air. The Right sees police as essential to civilization. So has everyone else for centuries. The Left today is on the side of killing cops. Not similar at all.
Read this account of the arrest of George Floyd, and tell me what you think that the cops should have done. Floyd was 6'7", muscular, resisting arrest, long-time criminal, junkie, lying, irrational, suffering a drug overdose, and showing excited delirium. The officers tried and failed to get him into the police car. They called an ambulance. They followed recommended procedure. What else could they do?
Floyd passed a counterfeit bill, and was high on illegal drugs while sitting in the driver's seat of a car. Should the police have just let him go? Hit him with the baton? Allow him to endanger others?
I am sure that there are examples of police misconduct, but this is not one. The anti-racism protesters always complain about Ferguson Missouri, which is the same as saying Black criminals should be allowed to kill White policemen. That is what was attempted in Ferguson.
I don't even hear any serious discussion of Floyd's cause of death, or what the police should have done. Floyd was dying of a fentanyl overdose before the police even arrived on the scene. This tells me that those who complain about Floyd's death are just crazy leftists who want to kill cops.
