No compromise has been possible, because hard-line Democrats refuse to put any meaningful limits on legal and illegal immigration. The issue has heated up in recent years because immigrants have displaced the White population in 48 states. (All except Montana and Vermont.)
I was surprised to see the NY Times admit all this. It still favors high immigration, because it says White Americans are not reproducing quickly enough to meet labor demands.
The Democrat Party is now for open borders, and for celebrating White displacement at every opportunity. If you favor moderate immigration, then you have no choice but to support Donald Trump, because everyone else is for radically transforming the American population.

Haley and Harris are both incompetent, and relying on identity politics. Haley has only distinguished herself by being a warmonger. She promised to pardon Trump in order to help heal the nation, but only after she spends a couple years prosecuting him and fighting his appeals. She is evil.

Ok, let me see if I can turn the whole 'I feel like the only lonely purple unicorn with pink hair in the room' schtick on its head.
Lets say I have just moved to China because I want to live there. Upon arriving, and settling down, I discover to my horror and dismay, that China (for some reason) is just chock full of Chinese people and culture...which I don't really care for because it doesn't look like me, and isn't like my native homeland... soooo instead of going home, or moving somewhere else that suits me better, I go about bitching about how China should change everything until the Chinese are as alienated in their own society as I am.
Does this make any sense whatsoever? Feel free to change the country you feel alienated in if it makes a difference... but the results are the same.
If you have a problem with white people, or an established culture that isn't like yours, why the hell would you ever move to North America? If you want the country to change to look like whatever you left behind, why would the people already there wish to be replaced for your convenience and comfort? This is just ridiculous. Anywhere else in the world you migrate to, regardless of how they do things, there will be a strong expectation that the migrant be the one who changes, not the greater society. There also will be the implicit understanding that a first generation migrant will never be completely at home, and that only their children will become increasingly comfortable as they integrate through marriage in future generations... just like it happens throughout the rest of all human history.
