Why Ambulances are so Expensive

Economist David Oks tries to figure out why American ambulances are so expensive:
He sent the bill to his insurance provider, which at first denied the claim, saying that AMR was out of network and that the ride hadn’t been pre-authorized. (Whitten, of course, hadn’t chosen the ambulance, or anything else about the trip.) On appeal, his insurance agreed to cover $9,967 of the charge — better than nothing, but it still left him on the hook for about $3,000. After several failed attempts to contest the bill with AMR, and not wanting it sent to collections to hurt his credit score, he paid the remaining $2,900 or so. The brief ambulance ride from one hospital to another had cost him far more than any other part of the experience.

What Whitten had received was a “surprise bill” — a charge that lands on a patient when they’re treated, without knowledge or consent, by a provider outside their insurer’s network. The insurer pays what they consider reasonable; the provider bills the patient for the difference; and the patient, despite having insurance that’s meant to pay for treatment, is left holding the balance. This is a terrible situation to be in.

It’s also the default way that ambulance billing in the United States works. Each year, roughly three million privately insured Americans take an emergency ambulance ride; about half of them get an out-of-network bill for it, a rate unmatched anywhere else in medicine. And the uninsured have it worse still: with no insurer to absorb any of the charge, they face the full, undiscounted bill on their own.

This has proven quite difficult to fix. When Congress banned surprise billing across virtually the entire healthcare system in 2020, ground ambulances were the great exception. If you’re privately insured and need an emergency ambulance, you’re entering a lottery whose ticket price you’ll learn weeks or months later.

I wonder why anyone pays these bills. As I understand American law, people are not obligated to pay a bill for services that were never negotiated.

Not paying the bill could hurt a credit score, but you say that about any refusal to pay a scammer. Any scammer can send you a bill, and report you for not paying it. The credit bureaus are supposed to remove such items on request, unless there is a court judgment.

Jefferson did not Father Kids with a Slave

A good new video explains:
"I really thought that Thomas Jefferson having children with Sally Hemings was a settled fact. I was wrong." –Ken
That's right, it is not a settled fact, and probably wrong.

Just today, a NY Times podcast said:

In the late '90s, we get a truly explosive book about Sally Hemings, one of Jefferson's slaves, by the historian Annette Gordon-Reed, and elevates all these accounts that have been lost that Jefferson in fact fathered children with Hemings. And then a year later, there's even DNA testing to prove that she's completely right.

This, uh, 200-year-old sex scandal returned to the headlines last week with news of scientific proof now.— that has confirmed Jefferson's sexual liaison with a woman named Sally Hemings. ...

Jefferson is being depicted variously as a rapist, a hypocrite, and a dirty old man.

No, this is not true. You can read the details on Wikipedia, or follow a court case that might resolve it. In short, DNA shows that some descendants of Hemings are also descendant from someone in Jefferson's family, but there is good reason to think it was a brother.

Dead Son or a Live Daughter?

Parents of gender confused children are often bullied into medical treatment with an argument that such treatments are necessary to prevent suicide. Most people will go along with expert medical opinion.

It is all nonsense. The research shows the opposite. Getting professional gender identity services makes adolescents and young adults worse.

What’s clear is that GD [gender dysphoria] is associated with psychiatric disorders, though it may not be causal, and that gender reassignment does not improve mental health compared to dysphoric subjects who didn’t get reassigned. All this suggests that “affirmative care” that puts GD subjects on the path to GR [gender reassignment] doesn’t, at least in this study, have the salubrious effects that are touted—as measured by the intensity of psychiatric treatment. Gender-reassigned subjects continue to suffer from mental disorders at a rate threefold to fivefold that of controls without gender dysphoria, so GR doesn’t come close to giving subjects the mental stability of controls.
Use common sense. Your medical professional may be more psychologically disturbed than your child.

Medical Societies Flip on Transgenderism

I have posted many times on how the major medical organizations have been corrupted, especially on political and LGBTQIA issues.

Now a NY Times op-ed announces:

As GLAAD puts it on its website, “Every major medical association supports health care for transgender people and youth as safe and lifesaving.” But something confounding has happened in the last few weeks: Cracks have appeared in the supposed wall of consensus. ...

The next day, the American Medical Association — which has long approved of such procedures — announced that “in the absence of clear evidence, the A.M.A. agrees with A.S.P.S. that surgical interventions in minors should be generally deferred to adulthood.” ...

The documents, separated by about a year and a half (and, perhaps as significantly, one presidential election), straightforwardly contradict each other. The A.P.A. in 2024 argued that there is a “comprehensive body of psychological and medical research supporting the positive impact of gender-affirming treatments” for individuals “across the life span.” But in 2025, the group argued that “psychologists do not make broad claims about treatment effectiveness.”

What changed? Was there new evidence?

No, the biggest change was the election of Donald Trump.

There were a lot of complaints about the President's State of the Union address. But the Trump 47 Presidency has been a return to sanity. Someday people will wonder about how the world went so crazy about transgenderism and other issues.

Update: The NY Times reports that the world's most wanted criminal was captured and killed in Mexico, largely as a result of Trump administration intelligence and pressure.

How Drug Companies Manipulate Research

Dr. Josef explains Study 329: Why I Stopped Trusting Medical Research.

Briefly, a drug company manipulated a study to claim that the anti-depressant Paxil was good for children, and then made $11 billion in sales. It later paid $3B to settle govt claims about fraudulent research.

A p-value of 0.11 was moved to less than the required 0.05 by restructuring the data.

He ends by saying that the journal should retract the publication. There must be a better solution. The study data were not faked. They were just artfully presented, with some relevant data omitted. This was considered acceptable at the time. Possibly someone could figure that out by reading the study.

We need higher standards for medical study publications.

In the meantime, you should know that the research behind psychiatric drugs is questionable.

Medical Journal goes Extreme Leftist

The (British) Lancet, one of the top five medical journal, has gone fully woke. Here is the latest editorial:
The far-right and health: an evolving political crisis

Across Europe and North America, racism, xenophobia, and far-right nationalism have become normalised in public and political discourse, leading many people to feel anxiety and fear of violence, discrimination, and hatred. This developing political crisis is having a pervasive and devastating impact on the health and wellbeing of health workers and scientists, as well as the general population. Two major drivers have intensified these forces. First, increasing public support for and visibility of populist nationalist politics across Europe and the USA. Second, the aftermath of the Oct 7, 2023, Hamas-led terrorist attacks on Israel and subsequent genocide in Gaza has fuelled substantial increases in antisemitism and islamophobia. Furthermore, white Europeans are also experiencing xenophobic attacks from far-right political parties who favour ethnic nationalism and are opposed to policies that foster European or global collaboration. These developments, together with anti-migrant sentiments across much of the West, have produced a perfect storm. Racism, xenophobia, and discrimination are fundamental determinants of health and contribute to an array of health inequities. In this volatile political climate, it is important for the medical community to acknowledge this public health threat — and respond.

This is bizarre. Conflicts between Jews and Moslems in the Middle East go back decades, if not centuries. Why is this now an issue for a medical journal?

People are being called far right for opinions that were considered centrist 20 years ago. Ethnic nationalism describes what most of the world has been for millennia.

Britain has adopted policies of importing millions of Third World migrants. The effects on Britain, both medical and otherwise, have been overwhelmingly negative. Usually medical societies and journals stay out of political debates.

The journal could give arguments in favor of the migrant policy. But no, it just uses name-calling against the other side. This is the behavior of partisan fanatics with no solid medical or scientific backing for its opinions.

The Evils of Human Organ Donation

Matt Walsh rants about Man Is Almost Sacrificed In The Name Of Organ Donation.

Checking a box at the DMV could get you killed.

Update:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services confirms it has launched a "major initiative" to reform America's organ-transplant system after it stunningly revealed that dozens of organ donors may not have been dead when the process to procure their organs was started, and dozens more exhibited "neurological signs incompatible with donation."

"Our findings show that hospitals allowed the organ procurement process to begin when patients showed signs of life, and this is horrifying," explained HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

There is also the problem that organ donation devalues life.

Study Compares TT Levels

This chart is from an Apr 2023 published study. A couple of things are striking. First is the correlation with crime data. The ones with the most total testosterone are the most aggressive, and commit the most crimes.

Second, TT levels generally decline with age, except that White men peak in their sixties! This is hard to believe. If true, it should be more widely known.

The Destructiveness of Mind Viruses

I am disturbed by this anonymous online comment:
It's worth remembering that about 20% of people are susceptible to being convinced they're sick or better (placebo and nocebo effect). That's the approximate number of people who report feeling better while ill by simply going to a clinic and seeing someone in white doctor's garb, and then going home. That's also the amount of people who will develop asthma-like symptoms when you advertise to them that the building they work or live in has mold issues with air quality.

And the most fucked up part is that while the disease is imaginary, effects are real. People can die from a nocebo asthma attack.

This is why advertising mental illnesses should be criminalized and punished harshly. Regardless of reasons for doing it. Because you're effectively infecting about 20% of the population with a mind virus that has real physiological symptoms.

Oh and the way to cure people with nocebo asthma? Doesn't work to tell them they have a mind virus, rather than a real illness. They will dismiss this. The only way found to be even remotely effective is to convince enough of them of something they can believe that like "yes it's real, but it's being worked on and your symptoms should slowly ease over time". And anyone advertising that "oh this guy in the left building told us it's getting worse" has a very good chance of making symptoms worse, even if said people never visited that building.

And DSM being as advertised as it is, is basically Grandpa Nurgle of mind viruses. Infecting a massive amount of people with symptoms of problems they don't actually have. With activists insisting on "awareness" being basically Chaos Demons of Nurgle, spreading magical plagues and poxes that cannot be cured by normal means.

Is this true? If so, this changes my world view.

I am used to libertarian beliefs where people have the autonomy to manage their own lives. And that people should be told about physical and mental illnesses, so that they can self-diagnose and treat their diseases.

This is foolishness. Much of the help is making people worse. I need to verify this. Maybe much of medicine is not even real.

Transgenderism is Increasing Exponentially

Since I have cited the Cass Review, I was curious about SciAm denouncing it:
Amid campaigns to roll back legal protections and health care provision for trans people in 2020, the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) launched the Cass Review of publicly funded gender services for children in England. Led by retired pediatrician Hilary Cass, the review examined existing research on trans health care interventions for people under age 18, consulted with stakeholders and made recommendations for NHS England services.

The final Cass Review report was released in April. It expresses concern about the number of young trans people presenting at doctors’ offices for treatment and argues there is “remarkably weak evidence” for the benefits of gender-affirming medical interventions. It recommends, for instance, that puberty blockers—medications given to delay puberty—be provided only within a clinical trial. For younger children not yet facing puberty, it raises warnings about social transition—that is, nonmedical decisions kids may make for themselves such as changing their name, wearing different clothes or choosing to be referred to by a different pronoun.

While the Cass Review has been presented by the U.K. media, politicians and some prominent doctors as a triumph of objective inquiry, its most controversial recommendations are based on prejudice rather than evidence.

SciAm's main complaint is that the Cass Review says that transgenderism has increased expontially, whereas the available data show no such increase in Israel, Scotland, and Belgium.

Why Medical Schools Admit Incompetents

The Wash. Free Beacon reports:
'A Failed Medical School': How Racial Preferences, Supposedly Outlawed in California, Have Persisted at UCLA

Up to half of UCLA medical students now fail basic tests of medical competence. Whistleblowers say affirmative action, illegal in California since 1996, is to blame.

Long considered one of the best medical schools in the world, the University of California, Los Angeles's David Geffen School of Medicine receives as many as 14,000 applications a year. Of those, it accepted just 173 students in the 2023 admissions cycle, a record-low acceptance rate of 1.3 percent. The median matriculant took difficult science courses in college, earned a 3.8 GPA, and scored in the 88th percentile on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).

Without those stellar stats, some doctors at the school say, students can struggle to keep pace with the demanding curriculum.

So when it came time for the admissions committee to consider one such student in November 2021—a black applicant with grades and test scores far below the UCLA average—some members of the committee felt that this particular candidate, based on the available evidence, was not the best fit for the top-tier medical school, according to two people present for the committee's meeting.

Their reservations were not well-received.

When an admissions officer voiced concern about the candidate, the two people said, the dean of admissions, Jennifer Lucero, exploded in anger.

"Did you not know African-American women are dying at a higher rate than everybody else?" Lucero asked the admissions officer, these people said. The candidate's scores shouldn't matter, she continued, because "we need people like this in the medical school."

So train some incompetent Black physicians so more Black women can die?

It seems that there is a common myth that Black women die in childbirth because of some sort of discrimination. It is not true. Mexican women do not die in childbirth any more than White women, but probably suffer more discrimination than Black women. An administrator at a medical school should know better.

I deduce from this: Our medical schools are run by people who are too corrupt to obey the law; too stupid to understand medical evidence; and willing to kill Black women with incompetent Black physicians.

If you are a Black woman seeking an obstitrician, I suggest you find a White one, because the Black one is there to kill you.

The retconning of George Floyd

I linked to a documentary casting doubt on the culpability of the police in the death of George Floyd.

In fairness, an expert rebuttal has been published. See both for a balanced view. It appears that both sides are making arguments stronger than what was made at trial.

The new info does not really change my reasons for believing the cops to be innocent. Floyd appeared to be dying before the cops touched him. He had a lethal dose of fentanyl and other illegal drugs. The cops were in a very difficult situation. They called an ambulance and tried to accommodate him. They did not appear to have any criminal intent.

The rebuttal argues that strictly following police procedures would have had Chauvin get off Floyd's back after a couple of minutes, and attaching a strap to restrain him. At one point a bystander says Floyd may have died, and urged the cops to check his pulse. Chauvin chose to wait for the ambulance instead.

Okay, maybe Chauvin used poor judgment, but it is not murder to lean on someone who is already dead.

The bigger issue of course is how this case was politicized. Everyone used it to show that White countries are systemically racist. It does not show that at all.

A 2020 medical paper claimed:

On 25 May 2020, George Floyd pleaded at least 16 times, “I can't breathe.” One officer in attendance nonetheless told bystanders, “He's talking. He's fine” (1, 2). Mayor Hal Marx of Petal, Mississippi, posted on Twitter the following day, “If you can say you can't breathe, you're breathing.” ...

George Floyd could have uttered those syllables repeatedly with small breaths that filled only the trachea and bronchi but brought no air to the alveoli, where actual gas exchange happens. ...

The use of incorrect physiologic statements to justify the force leading to the deaths of Eric Garner and George Floyd is unacceptable. According to our oath as clinicians, it is our responsibility to the public to aggressively correct such misconceptions to prevent further deaths.

His point is that Floyd's talking showed that the police were not blocking his trachea, but the lungs were not absorbing the oxygen because of an underlying medical condition.

The use of force did not contribute to Floyd's death. This paper has no evidence that it did. Its only content is to nitpick about the word "breathe". Some people use it to mean moving air through the throat, while others mean to get oxygen absorbed by the lungs.

Laws to Curb Transgender Treatments

SciAm opninion:
In January the Florida Select Committee on Health Innovation approved House Bill 1639 (HB 1639), which dramatically restricts treatment for transgender individuals. If the bill becomes law, it will make it easier for insurers to refuse to cover gender-affirming care, will require those that cover gender transition to also offer policies that do not and will bar transgender people from updating their driver’s license. It also mandates that insurers provide detransition care to those who want to revert to the sex they were assigned at birth.
Sounds reasonable to me. I should not have to pay for someone else's bizarre sexual fantasy.
The Florida bill would require insurers to cover “mental health or therapeutic services to treat a person's perception that his or her sex ... is inconsistent with such person’s sex at birth by affirming the insured’s sex.” In plain language, HB 1639 endorses so-called conversion therapy: counseling aimed at curing someone of being transgender, viewing it as a form of mental disorder or spiritual failing.
It is a mental disorder. That is why transgender people want treatment, and want insurance to pay for it.

It goes on to descreib some psychotherapies and argue that they do not work very well. Of course, no psychotherapies work very well.

Systemic Racism at Harvard Medical School

PBS TV announces:
Dr. Uché Blackstock has seen firsthand how medical racism shapes health care in America. She's dedicated her career to work at the intersection of medicine, health equity and systemic racism. Her new memoir, "Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine," details both historic health care inequities and her own family history. She joins John Yang to discuss her work and experiences.
Her only example of racism was that she had appendicitis while a student at Harvard Medical School, where her Black mom had also been a student, and the Massachussetts hospital emergency room did not diagnose it correctly at first.

So are the Harvard professors trying to kill off Black students? This does not even make any sense. While people get misdiagnosed also. She probably had better access to expert medical care than 98% of the population.

Women should pay Reparations to Men

From the full California report:
The Task Force recommends that the Legislature estimate the cost of health differences between African Americans and white non-Hispanic Californians and issue reparations according to that calculation, as follows:

1. Take the value of the individual’s statistical life (roughly $10,000,000) and divide it by the white non-Hispanic life expectancy in California (78.6 years in 2021), to obtain the value for each year of life absent anti-Black racial discrimination ($127,226).769

Then calculate the difference in average life expectancy in years between African American and white non-Hispanic Californians (7.6 years in 2021). 3. Then multiply the two to arrive at a total loss in value of life for each African American due to health disparities based on racial discrimination ($966,918).

Women live longer than men by almost 6 years, and this is partially attributed to women having better access to health care and preventive services than men. So every man should be paid about $700,000 in compensation.

Women have more personal wealth and consumer spending power than men, and men have more debt. This is true in spite of the fact that men do more work and earn most of the money. Obviously a systemic injustice.

The report also wants to compensate Blacks for spending more time in jail. But of course men on average spend much more time in jail than women, so White men should be compensated also.

The Task Force also recommends that the Legislature provide reparations for less quantifable harms. For example, pain and suffering from generations of discrimination represents real harm experienced by descendants.

Also, because in some instances, more data and research are required to calculate the just amount of reparations, the Task Force recommends that the Legislature make a substantial initial down payment on reparations, to be augmented over time with additional payments as new evidence becomes available. It should be communicated to the public that the substantial initial down payment is the beginning of a conversation about redressing the economic and societal harm of historical injustices, not the end of it.

Forget about any payment settling any issue. Any payment for reparations will just encourage demands for more.

Accept this, and you will accept anything

Snake Baker writes:
It hardly even seems real that they are just going around cutting the tits off of teenage girls. Like, it’s still hard to process that this is happening.

As Andrew Anglin has said many times, this tranny stuff is the worst possible thing that any government could ever do. Therefore, once people have accepted this, there is not a single thing they won’t accept. Once you say “yeah, it’s a good idea to chop teenage girls’ tits off,” there is no single thing you can look at and say, “now, this seems unreasonable.”

You’ve destroyed the possibility of anything being unreasonable, ever.

This is why this issue is so important to the government/media. They know that once everyone has been forced to accept it, the game is over, and no one will ever protest anything the government does ever again.

Washington Times:

A Nebraska woman who had her breasts removed at 16 has sued University of Nebraska Medical Center doctors for malpractice, saying she and her parents were manipulated into gender-transition medical treatments that “robbed her of her womanhood.”

Luka Hein, 21, said she underwent a double mastectomy in 2018 after just two counseling sessions as part of a “gender-affirming care” process without being fully informed of the risks in violation of the Nebraska Consumer Protection Act.

I do not believe that more than about 1% of the population sincerely believes in this tranny stuff. And yet it is being forced on everyone. Why? I am not sure I accept The above argument, but I do believe that they are deliberately sacrificing teenaged girls in order to promote social change.

Medical Journals have gone Woke

The Lancet, a British medical journal that is one of the tops in the world, published a May 2023 editorial:
Occasionally, someone says something so appalling, so shocking, and so disheartening that you just stop in disbelief. On April 26, 2023, UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman said this: “I think that the people coming here illegally do possess values which are at odds with our country. We are seeing heightened levels of criminality when related to thttps://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)00900-5/fulltexthe people who have come on boats related to drug dealing, exploitation, prostitution.” ...

This is the era of culture wars—politicised conflicts over values, identities, and beliefs. Are British institutions systemically racist? Should the monarchy pay reparations for its historical links to slavery? Are activists terrorising the young with climate doom? Has Brexit been a success? What is the definition of a woman? ...

Antonio Gramsci (1891–1937) was arrested by Mussolini's police in 1926. Imprisoned, he used his time to fill the pages of 33 notebooks. Gramsci sought to make sense of his experience in the vanguard of Italian politics. One question in particular occupied his thoughts. Why did every effort to bring about revolutionary change in Europe fail? His great insight, one largely forgotten today, was to recognise the way in which the dominant group uses culture to exert its controlling influence. If the ruling power can persuade people to share its social, cultural, and moral values, the motivation for radical political change will wither. The culture wars suggest that it is not the economy, stupid. If populist governments can win over the public to their beliefs, progressives have little chance of electoral success. It was this cultural hegemony, according to Gramsci, that explained the resistance to progressive political change in the aftermath of World War 1. And it is the modern struggle for cultural hegemony that explains today's bitter disputes over race, sex, and gender.

Responses are here and here.

Why is it so shocking to a medical journal that a politician said that illegals were bringing crime into the country? It is an obvious fact. Maybe a medical journal should stay our of pollitics, or maybe it should address social problems. But this medical journal wants to complain when someone else points out social problems.

Turning Runaway Kids into Trannies

Daily Stormer:
Remember when I told you they were going to kidnap your kids and turn them into trannies?

It’s just like the deadly vaccine thing and the out of control black crime thing.

I said all of these obvious things were going to happen, now they’re all happening.

Sounds like hyperbole, but it is happening:
America First Legal is suing Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) to stop a law allowing children to get genital mutilation surgeries without their parents’ knowledge or consent.

AFL, headed by former Trump administration policy adviser Stephen Miller, is challenging Senate Bill 5599, which Inslee signed into law in May and allows shelters to house runaway children and provide them with genital mutilation and chemical castration interventions if they are struggling with gender dysphoria.

“The recently signed legislation creates a dangerous incentive for minors who disagree with their parents on ‘gender-affirming care’ to run away to a shelter or host home,” the group argues.

S.B. 5599 strips a requirement to notify parents of a runaway child and allows them to pursue transgender medical procedures.

No info about runaway children should be kept from the parents. The kids should be returned without any medical treatments.

It is amazing to me that the Democrats are in favor of holding runaway kids and not telling the parents where they are.

How We Can Indentify Systemic Racism

There is no known reliable test for diagnosing Alzheimer Disease, nor is there a known cause. It is correlated with certain genes, so it could be genetic in many cases. Probably a subtled combination of genes and environment, like most things.

NPR Radio News reports:

MARTIN: Black Americans report similar experiences when they become caregivers to aging parents with Alzheimer's. African Americans are 40% more likely to develop Alzheimer's than white Americans, according to federal data. But all along the way, family members say they struggle to get adequate information, treatment and support from medical providers.

STAFFORD: What we found was that a lot of Black caregivers, they encounter the same things. You have providers who aren't listening to them. Even getting a simple diagnosis is hard. So not only are Black people more likely to have Alzheimer's, they are also less likely to be receiving equitable care that they need to take care of this disease.

MARTIN: How do we know that this is a systemic issue? Because as you certainly know that we live in a time when there are a lot of people who are just really reluctant to - and even hostile - about the idea that there is something called systemic racism. So what convinces you that this is something about the systems that people live in and under?

STAFFORD: The fact that there are decades worth of research, statistics, all of these things that have laid out clearly the role that structural racism plays in inequities. We also made an intentional effort to highlight the voices of doctors, historians, folks that have really been rooted in this work, to really lay clear why these disparities exist today. And one thing that they all were very keen on pointing out was this cannot be explained by genetics alone. There is nothing genetically wrong with Black people. But what we are seeing are the effects of socioeconomic conditions, social determinants and all of these things that manifest because of this legacy of structural racism.

Just to be clear, there are tests for dementia, but it can have many causes. Alzheimers can be a cause, but only an autopsy can determine for sure.

There you have the explanation of how we know it is systemic racism. We do not know much about Alzheimers, but somehow we know that Blacks get it more, that it cannot be genetics, and hence it must be systemic racism. There is a whole body of work from doctors, historians, and other folk leading to this conclusion.

Medical Journals have gone Woke

Biology professor Jerry Coyne explains how the top medical journal The Lancet has gone woke:
Here’s my own brief summary of Horton’s op-ed:

“Global health” is a manifestation of colonialism and white supremacy, an exclusive and structurally racist club that must be decolonized and dismantled. We shouldn’t waste our time pursuing the traditional version of this practice, which won’t be decolonized until the entire world is fixed: rid of war, racism, unequal wealth, climate skepticism, and all other manifestations of right-wing politics.”

Coyne also reports that Mathematics education is infected:
More than 50 of Britain’s leading mathematicians have accused standards bosses of politicising the curriculum with new diversity guidance.

Academics at top UK universities have signed an open letter criticising guidance on academic standards that states that values of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) “should permeate the curriculum and every aspect of the learning experience”.
