It is all nonsense. The research shows the opposite. Getting professional gender identity services makes adolescents and young adults worse.

What’s clear is that GD [gender dysphoria] is associated with psychiatric disorders, though it may not be causal, and that gender reassignment does not improve mental health compared to dysphoric subjects who didn’t get reassigned. All this suggests that “affirmative care” that puts GD subjects on the path to GR [gender reassignment] doesn’t, at least in this study, have the salubrious effects that are touted—as measured by the intensity of psychiatric treatment. Gender-reassigned subjects continue to suffer from mental disorders at a rate threefold to fivefold that of controls without gender dysphoria, so GR doesn’t come close to giving subjects the mental stability of controls.

Use common sense. Your medical professional may be more psychologically disturbed than your child.

Senate Votes on Girls Sports being for Girls

The USA Senate just voted on this bill:

Section 901 of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. 1681) is amended by adding at the end the following:

``(d)(1) It shall be a violation of subsection (a) for a recipient of Federal funds who operates, sponsors, or facilitates athletic programs or activities to permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.

``(2) For purposes of this subsection, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth.''.

All Republicans voted Yes, and all Democrats No, so it dies by a Democrat filibuster.

Apparently this defines our political divide more than anything else. For at least a century, there was universal agreement that girls sports were for females. Now it is down to Pres. Trump and his supporters.

People are allowed different views on the war, taxes, and other subjects. But politicians have to stick to the party line on this. Future historians will have a hard time explaining why anyone wanted boys to play girls sports.

Olympics Returns to Sex Discrimination

Olympic competitions for women used to be just for women. Now it is returning to that.

The Olympics is increasingly likely to ban transgender athletes from all female competition following a science-based review of evidence.

Kirsty Coventry, the new president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), told Telegraph Sport in January that she favoured a blanket ban and, after winning the presidency in March, commissioned a review that assessed the permanent physical advantages of being born male.

This should not have required a science-based review of evidence. The most decisive thing was probably the Pres. Trump executive order for a sex-based policy. It stated the obvious, after our scientific organizations went woke.

Religion-haters Opposed to Free Speech

I posted about a pending Supreme Court case, so here is a contary view, from a woman presenting as non-binary lesbian:

I want to be very clear here that we are talking about children being subjected to a form of “care” that has been consistently debunked as pseudoscience, and is most frequently religious preaching that can be billed to insurance companies. The Alliance Defending Freedom made great hay out of the fact that counseling is an evidence-based practice, which it is, without mentioning the inconvenient fact that the specific type of counseling Chiles seeks to provide is not evidence-based. There is no reputable study, no mainstream medical organization, that endorses conversion therapy. In fact, the general medical consensus on the topic is that it is deeply harmful to those who fall victim to it, which is why more than 20 states have banned its use for minors. ...

Conversion therapy is fundamentally different from other forms of youth-focused psychology and psychiatry. Pediatric psychiatry can be life-saving, evidence-based, scientifically sound medical care. Conversion therapy is not that. It is also fundamentally different from its mainstream converse, gender-affirming care, because gender-affirming care is evidence-based and backed by reputable medical organizations, despite the concerted misinformation campaign to the contrary.

The terminology is confusing. What she calls "conversion therapy" is actually affirming sex, and teaching kids to learn to live with their innate sexual identities.

And "gender-affirming care" is teaching kids to adopt a gender identity opposite to their actual sex.

The fact that reputable medical organizations are on one side of this issue is scary.

This is a larger pattern, primarily pushed by the religious right, to ensure that misinformation, pseudoscience and fearmongering rule the day. Truth is one of our greatest defenses against fascism, something that the Christian nationalist movement knows it cannot withstand. LGBTQIA+ rights have provided it with a convenient foothold to test the limits and boundaries, and to drop stones in the constitutional pond that will ripple out to everyone, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

It is funny to hear her talk of truth. The Bible says in John 8:31-32:

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

She stands in favor of laws to stop kids from learning the truth.

Transgender People are Crazy and Dangerous

In 2018, a biologically female drug-store worker named Snochia Mosley shot and killed three co-workers in Aberdeen, Maryland. Friends shared messages with the media indicating that Mosley felt “the world was against her,” and that she’d begun identifying as a transgender male (and discussing hormone treatments) two years earlier.

The following year, Maya McKinney—a biologically female student who asserted a male gender identity and had begun calling herself “Alec”—opened fire at a Colorado school, killing one and wounding eight, in retaliation for alleged transphobic bullying.

Last year, a girl identifying as a boy was expelled from Les Paul Middle School in Wisconsin after she was caught plotting a school shooting. A forensic search of her phone revealed chilling queries such as “trans kill hit list.”

In 2023, “Audrey” Hale, an emotionally disturbed woman who identified as male, killed three children and three staff members at The Covenant School in Nashville. In the months leading up to the attack, Hale wrote in her journal: “My penis exists in my head. I swear to god I’m male.” Other statements included, “So now in America, it makes one a criminal to have a gun or be transgender or non-binary,” “God I hate those sh*thead politicians,” and “I need a trans doctor… This female gender role makes me want to not exist.”

Humanists Fully Endorse Transgenderism

I expect atheists and humanists to be anti-God and anti-religion, but it appears that they are more interested in promoting transgenderism. See Prof. Jerry Coynes comments here and here.

Update: Coyne notes that out of 17 atheist/humanist/freethought/secular/skeptic organizations, 16 are fully committed to pushing for LGBTQ+ rights as a fundamental stance in their fight against Christian nationalism, and one says:

That's right, transgenderism is bad for reasons that have nothing to do with religion.

Pro-transgender Lawsuit from Dem States

A lot of leftist states have filed a lawsuit against Trump's anti-transgender orders.

Since taking office on January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump and his administration have relentlessly, cruelly, and unlawfully targeted transgender individuals. The Trump administration has sought to deny their very existence, banish transgender residents from the public square, and refuse them medically necessary healthcare through unlawful Executive Orders (EOs) and a raft of federal agency actions implementing those EOs. What’s more, the Attorney General has not minced words that she will use the Department of Justice to “bring [] an end” to gender-affirming care for transgender adolescents. The result is an atmosphere of fear and intimidation experienced by transgender individuals, their families and caregivers, and the medical professionals who seek only to provide necessary, lawful care to their patients.

Nearly all of that is false. Nobody is denying anyone's existence, or withholding necessary medical care, or banishing anyone.

Trump said that sex is binary, which is a scientific fact. He also opposed the sexual mutilation of minors. He is trying to enforce federal laws that were supposed to protect womens sports.

I wonder how 17 states got such radical transgender governments. It would be one thing to say that adults should be allowed to make personal choices, but it is something else to force everyone to accept them, or to impose bizarre medical experiments on children.

Crazy Moms cause Transgender Kids

Results of the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines and the Beck Depression Inventory revealed that mothers of boys with GID had more symptoms of depression and more often met the criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder than the controls. Fifty-three percent of the mothers of boys with GID compared with only 6% of controls met the diagnosis for Borderline Personality Disorder on the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines or had symptoms of depression on the Beck Depression Inventory. Results of the Summers and Walsh Symbiosis Scale suggested that mothers of probands had child-rearing attitudes and practices that encouraged symbiosis and discouraged the development of autonomy. A study like this would probably not get published today.

Is this any surprise? Yes of course crazy moms are the cause of gender confusion in boys.

The Trangenderism in Sports Arguments

Arguments for allowing transgender girls to compete in girls' sports:

There are no mental health benefits. No one's mental health has ever been improved by letting boys compete against girls.

The other arguments are all against letting the boys compete. Nearly everyone believes that equal opportunity and fairness require letting girls compete against other girls, and not boys.

Arguments for maintaining sex-based categories:

Biological differences in muscle mass, bone density, and physical development that typically emerge during puberty

Concerns about competitive fairness, scholarships, and records in girls' sports

Safety considerations in contact sports

Preserving opportunities that Title IX was designed to create for female athletes Arguments that separate categories serve important purposes in maintaining competitive balance

These arguments are better, but do not go far enough.

The differences between boys and girls are not just puberty muscles. They affect many psychological and behavioral traits, and have cultural importance.

Sports are sex segregated not just for muscle and bone fairness and safety. It is also for all those other differences.

I do not see the arguments on either side addressing those other differences. I wonder why. Is it because they believe those differences do not exist? Or that the differences are not relevant to sports? Or that some important social goal is achieved by trying to minimize or ignore those differences?

I do not know. People talk about the puberty muscle differences as if those are the only ones, so maybe they do not know about others. On the other hand, even the transgender advocates talk about sex differences before puberty as being real and substantial, so they must recognize the differences. And they obviously think that the differences are relevant to sports, as that is why they push transgenderism in sports.

So my conclusion is that they have some ideological purpose in pushing transgender sports, even if it has negative consequences for everyone involved. Those reasons would be similar to the reasons for progressive pride flags. It serves to undermine social norms that certain people hate.

Gymnast Simone Biles was in the news promoting transgenderism, but why? She is a freak with a height of 4'8". I would not be surprised if she used drugs to suppress her growth. It is known that she uses performance-enhancing drugs under a controversial exemption she was granted. The creepiest thing about her is her allegations against Larry Nassar, the disgraced gymnast physician. I think she is lying. She only complained just in time to collect on the millions in settlements. Apparently she made enemies with her pro-transgender, and she had to issue an apology. Riley Gaines said it was very strange that Biles attacked Larry Nassar, while giving a pass to transgender sex abusers.

Free Puff, and Greenwald Blames Trump

Overlapping affairs and marriages, serial adulteries, affairs with porn stars that he paid to cover up, closely cavorting with Jeffrey Epstein after he was publicly convicted of sex trafficking of minors, boasting of "grabbing womens' pussies" without asking, and I could go on and on. We'll leave to the side the multiple allegations of sexual assault from various women to whom he wasn't married even though one was repeatedly upheld in a court.

For his whole adult live, Trump lived the life of a libertine Manhattan billionaire, not even close to a paragon of sexual moral virtue.

One of the things I've always liked about Trump is he never purported to be a moralist because he knew his life didn't permit that pretense and it wasn't something he pretended to value, Nor -- as his many close libertine friends demonstrate, or, say, his choice of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General this demonstrates -- was it something he used to judge the moral worth of others.

Trump obviously didn't care to align his private behavior with the moral judgments of others: only with his own codes about right and wrong.

Greenwald is deflecting attention from a recently leaks homosexual sex tape.

His accusations against Trump are completely false, and he knows better. He tries to imply that Trump cooperated in the sex-trafficking of minors. Not true. He falsely describes the famous Access Hollywood comedy routine. There were no affairs with porn stars. All we know is that his fixer paid off a blackmailer.

There was an allegation upheld in court in a civil case, but that was so ridiculous that it is nearly impossible to believe.

It is weird that Greenwald would compare himself to Trump in this way. There are no videos of Trump doing anything immoral. Some Trump allegations would be illegal if true. Did Greenwald do anything illegal? He is sensitive about adopting a couple of kids with a Brazilian partner who is now dead. Not sure what that is all about.

Other sex scandals in the news are the retrial of Harvey Weinstein, and trial of Puff Diddy, aka Sean Combs. I haven't followed these trials, but I am waiting for the smoking gun. The defendants may be scum, but the charges are ridiculous. Diddy's chief accuser is Cassie Ventura who had a long-term affair with him from 2007 to 2018. She sued him in 2023, and obtained a $20 million settlement. So what is the issue now?

Another complaint says Diddy behaved inappropriately at a 1997 party.

Here is the latest witness, apparently allowed to testify anonymously:

I am expecting a prosecution expert to testify that it is completely normal for rape victims to send years of loving messages to their rapists. He will say the messages prove the brainwashing worked.

With both Weinstein and Diddy have attracted lawyers digging up dozens of gripes from decades in the past, and looking to collect legal settlement. No single complaint is provable, but the argument is that there are a lot of complaints and the defendant has deep pockets, so he should pay.

That was also the issue with Trump. The porn star figured that Trump had deep pockets, and he would have to pay off to avoid publicity, whether the allegation is true or false.

Natural History Magazine goes Transgender

Natural History magazine is mostly known for publishing the pro-evolution columns from Stephen Jay Gould, and now it has bet its reputation on transgenderism.

It published an article saying that sex is a spectrum, and not binary, and then editorialized in favor of it. It said “the science behind Fuentes’s thesis. . . is solid.”

Biology professor Jerry Coyne remarks:

And Fuentes uses many of the bogus tropes employed to “prove” that sex is nonbinary, even showing a photo of a bluehead wrasse, a fish that forms polygynous groups. When the alpha male dies, one female gets rid of her ovaries and develops testes, taking over the top job. But there are still only two sexes! I have to say that you have to be either ignorant or tendentious to use this animal as an argument against the sex binary, and Fuentes isn’t ignorant. ...

The claim that “the number of mating types (often called “sexes”) has been variable over hundreds of millions of years, ranging from two and sometimes three in most animals, to as many as seven in single-celled animals. . ” is wholly misleading. Well, Dear Editors, all animals and vascular plants have just two sexes (which ones have three?), though single-celled organisms, algae and fungi can have more “mating type”, which I’m okay with calling “sexes”if you want. But Fuentes and the editors, are defending the thesis that animals, including our own species, have nonbinary sex. This is not true.

So there is a single-celled organism with seven sexes? News to me, but that tells us nothing about transgenderism in humans.

As far as I know, humans are 100% unambiguously male or female. I am no expert on this. If it turns out that there are some rare exceptions, that would have little or nothing to do with the transgender activism of today.

I am reminded of the evolution wars of 30 years ago, where leftist-atheist-evolutionists adamantly claimed to be on the side of science. Now they brazenly lie about basic biological facts. Some of them, anyway. I credit Jerry Coyne with coming clean on the facts, even when it does not match his ideology.

USA was Funding Mutilations, in India

I had no idea the USA was funding stull like this. It should all be shut down, and reassessed.

A NY Times op-ed asks for continued USA aid to Haiti:

Canada Pays for Man to have Vagina and Penis

Trans people do not exist

Enlightenment thinkers had posited that just by virtue of existing, each person has inalienable rights. Without a state to claim them as their own, people have no laws, no courts and no political mechanisms for protecting rights....

A country that has pushed one group out of its political community will eventually push out others. The Trump administration’s barrage of attacks on trans people can seem haphazard, but as elements of a denationalization project, they fall into place. In his Inaugural Address and one of his first executive orders, President Trump asserted that only two sexes exist: male and female, established at conception and immutable. Trans people, in other words, do not exist. Executive orders aimed at banning any mention of transgender people in schools, banning trans athletes from women’s sports, ordering a stop to gender-affirming medical care for people under 19 and barring trans people from serving in the military followed.

The State Department stopped issuing passports with the “X” gender marker and began issuing passports consistent with the sex the applicant was assigned at birth, even if the person had legally changed gender....

It is a scientific fact that only two sexes exist, that they are established at conception and are immutable.

There is nothing that any Enlightenment thinkers ever said to indicate that people have a right to an X gender marker on passports, or to compete in opposite sex sports, or anything like that. This whole concept of trans rights is a modern fiction that Enlightenment thinkers would have rejected.

So you see, getting back to the outrage-inducing 6:12 essay, anyone who was upset by the sentence “a woman is whoever she says she is”, indeed does not 6:18 understand language. Admittedly, it’s not the best wording. A woman isn’t Abraham Lincoln because she 6:24 says she is. Perhaps a more accurate way to put it would be to say that “woman” refers to whoever we 6:30 say it refers to. And we decided that it refers to adult individuals of female gender identity, 6:36 which includes trans women in addition to cis women.

No, he is wrong. Sex means biological sex. Gender is a linguistic term that is sometimes used interchangeably with sex, but is sometimes used for language terms like pronouns.

Trump's executive order covers this, and uses definitions consistent with modern biology and centuries of use.

Sex is binary, immutable, and determined by the SRY gene. Trans people sometimes claim gender identities different from their sex.

I say this because Professor Dave denies that anyone uses these definitions. I don't know how he can be so silly, as it appears to me that 90% of the public and 90% of scientists use these definitions.

Professor Dave is also a Trump-hater, so it is fair to assume that he is driven by ideology on this issue.

Update: I listened to some more of this creep. He later rants about "Christo-Fascism" by Trump to replace govt web site terms like "pregnant people".

He then says he is on the right side of history, by siding with an LGBTQ rise to power.

This is indeed a new trend, but maybe the NY Times should have talked to more than one user. The article says that the AI boyfriend is always accommodating and emphatic, and not like any real-life boyfriend who would be more challenging.

In fact these things are configurable, and you can set it up any way you want. If you want, you can have an AI boyfriend or girlfriend who is as challenging as you want. You can get one that is stubborn and disagreeable, if you want.
