Dr. Seuss has scammed us

Here are the best-selling books on Amazon. As I write this, about half of the top books are Dr. Seuss books.

Have we all been scammed? The Dr. Seuss publisher got a lot of publicity by canceling 6 of his more obscure books. It also appears to have generated about $10 million in sales on the remaining books. Maybe it was all a publicity stunt.

His kids' books were great. He was a liberal Jew. It was predictable that right-wingers and left-wingers will rush to his defense, while a few on the woke left will applaud the banning of some images. The result was big profits.

I would not be surprised if the publisher bring back the banned books, with possibly some annotations, possibly with some annotations, like the TCM problematic movies. Or maybe some images will be replaced. That will generate more publicity, and more sales.

The Potato Head makers also made some change that appeared to caving into gendered political demands. It was probably also a publicity stunt to drive up sales.
