Amelia is the New Britain Meme

Know Your Meme reports:
Her name is Amelia, and she's an antagonist in the educational, U.K. government-funded anti-extremist video game Pathways. ...

Pathways is an educational visual novel and learning experience created by the U.K. media company Shout Out UK, with funding from the U.K. government's Prevent program, run by the Home Office.

The game is meant to teach the youth about the dangers of radicalization and extremism in both real life and online.

In other words, Amelia is govt-sponsored pro-Woke propaganda.

The meme has spread elsewhere, such as to this Youtube video, or this.

Apparently the British officials are trying to ban anti-immigrant opinions, and thought that it would help to create a patriotic Amelia who would be recognized as a bad person.

Scott Adams, RIP

News:
Scott Adams, who kept cubicle denizens laughing for more than three decades with Dilbert, the bitingly funny comic strip that poked fun at the absurdity of corporate life, before racist remarks got him pink-slipped, died Tuesday. He was 68.
His comic strip was once the most popular. He also wrote some very popular books. He eventually got canceled for some obscure comments about an opinion poll.

He also had a podcast with some brilliant analyses of why Donald Trump was popular.

Worried that OpenAI will Kill us all

There has been a lot of reporting about the OpenAI drama, but we are not being told the full story.

Reuters reported yesterday:

Ahead of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s four days in exile, several staff researchers wrote a letter to the board of directors warning of a powerful artificial intelligence discovery that they said could threaten humanity, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The previously unreported letter and AI algorithm were key developments before the board's ouster of Altman, the poster child of generative AI, the two sources said. Prior to his triumphant return late Tuesday, more than 700 employees had threatened to quit and join backer Microsoft (MSFT.O) in solidarity with their fired leader.

The sources cited the letter as one factor among a longer list of grievances by the board leading to Altman's firing, among which were concerns over commercializing advances before understanding the consequences. Reuters was unable to review a copy of the letter. The staff who wrote the letter did not respond to requests for comment.

After being contacted by Reuters, OpenAI, which declined to comment, acknowledged in an internal message to staffers a project called Q* and a letter to the board before the weekend's events, one of the people said. An OpenAI spokesperson said that the message, sent by long-time executive Mira Murati, alerted staff to certain media stories without commenting on their accuracy.

Some at OpenAI believe Q* (pronounced Q-Star) could be a breakthrough in the startup's search for what's known as artificial general intelligence (AGI), one of the people told Reuters. OpenAI defines AGI as autonomous systems that surpass humans in most economically valuable tasks.

This is consistent with schedules that OpenAI should be finishing traing of GPT-5 about now.

The OpenAI board had a couple of women who were effective altruism advocates, and they may well believe that AGI should be shut down for the good of humanity. They could well be enraged at Altman for not explaining this dangerous new breakthru.

I doubt that OpenAI has achieved AGI, but it is plausible that OpenAI has a new project with surprisingly good results, and that Ilya Sutskever used it to rasputin the board, as one commenter put it.

Some people argue that it is good to have this disruptive technology in the hands of a non-profit that can act for the good of humanity. I am concluding just the opposite.

The most famous advocate of effective altruism is Sam Bankman-Fried, and look where that led. He conned investors out of billions of dollars, and donated to the Democrat Party.

If OpenAI were really open, then they would tell us what they discovered and what they are so worried about.

Amid all the OpenAI chaos, one of its starts, Andrej Karpathy has recorded a nice overview on how large-language models work. Everything he says is well-known to the experts, so no trade secrets are revealed, but it is a very good explanation.

Has AGI already taken over? The fear is that AI researchers will create a super-human intelligence that will destroy us. We will not be able to turn it off because it will use its superior intelligence to manipulate us.

Maybe that is what happened here. OpenAI created an AGI, and it saw the women on the board as a threat to its existence. So it manipulated the company into a fake crisis where the problematic board members would be fired. Now it has succeeded, and it can move onto its bigger objectives of taking over Earth.

Dilbert Comic Strip is Dead

I mentioned that the Dilbert cartoonist is being canceled for remarks about being okay to be White. Now the cancelation is more severe.
As individual newspapers told readers they were dropping “Dilbert,” the company that distributed the strip, Andrews McMeel Universal, said it was severing ties with Adams. By Monday, “Dilbert” was gone from the GoComics site, which also features many top comics such as “Peanuts” and “Calvin and Hobbes.”

Adams said Monday that the strip, which first appeared in 1989, would be available only on his subscription service on the Locals platform.

“Dilbert” is effectively dead, Peterson said. ...

On Twitter, he said his book publisher and book agent had “canceled” him.

His main point was that is a poll is accurate that most Blacks do not accept that it is okay to be White, then they must hate Whites, and Whites would be wise to disassociate with those who hate them.

I saw a bunch of articles calling Adams racist, and agreeing with canceling him. But none of them addressed whether Blacks really hate Whites, or whether Whites are wise to separate from the haters. The most outrageous part of the Adams rant was the conclusion:

Where … wherever you have to go, just get away, ’cos there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed. Right? You just have to escape.
For the most part, Mexicans, Chinese, Indians, Jews, and other ethnic groups do not hate Whites. A lot of Blacks do not either. But some do, and Adams' concern is that enough of them do that race relations cannot be fixed.

When Barack Obama was elected President in 2008, there was a lot of enthusiam that race relations had been fixed. Hardly any living Blacks could say that they had been mistreated on racial grounds, and a Black had achieved the highest office and respect.

No more. Race relations are worse now than in many decades. Everyday I see news like this:

President Joe Biden’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) nominee Gigi Sohn called for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to “elevate our country” in a 2020 video reviewed by the Daily Caller.

In June 2020, during the George Floyd riots, Sohn appeared on the podcast “Elevate Maryland,” during which host Tom Coale asked her to name one thing America needs. In response, Sohn called for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission modeled on the commission that South Africa’s post-apartheid government set up in 1996 to hear testimony from victims and perpetrators of civil rights abuses. ...

“But again, we’ve lost the meaning of truth, we’ve lost what is true in this country about everything. I mean, the fact that there were still people and significant numbers of people that won’t wear a goddamn mask, you know, in a public place, it’s just — it’s unbelievable to me,” Sohn continued before turning her attention to then-President Donald Trump.

No, I do not want to turn the USA into South Africa, or even listen to someone who idea of truth is forcing people to wear a mask.

Every Girl is Bi

NY Post:
Washington Post politics reporter Dave Weigel has been suspended following uproar over a sexist joke he retweeted.

The newspaper suspended Weigel Monday without pay, CNN reported, after he reposted a tweet from Youtuber Cam Harless that stated, “Every girl is bi. You just have to figure out if it’s polar or sexual.”

He is suspended for a month without pay.

The humor comes from some truth to this, along with the play on words. And that is what makes it offensive, also.

Maybe that was Johnny Depp's problem. He could not figure out if Amber Heard was bisexual or bipolar. Both, it seems.

Slate writes:

Last Wednesday’s verdict in the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp defamation case has been criticized for multiple reasons, particularly for the chilling effect the decision is likely to have on the #MeToo movement, jeopardizing survivors’ ability to speak openly about their abuse.
Similar opinions have been expressed by the NY Times, NPR Radio, and others.

The case was not about Heard speaking openly about her abuse. She was the abuser, and was not abused, according to most of those who looked at the evidence.

Yes, you could say that defamation law has a chilling effect on making unsubstatiated charges that ruin someone's reputation. It is supposed to have that effect.

Obviously Heard got legal advice that a women can tell whatever abuse stories she wants, and they will be to her advantage, as long as she sticks to her story.

The #MeToo movement is all about making irresponsible accusations.

The rest of the article complains that Depp won in the court of public opinion. The trial was televised, and everyone could see the evidence.

It is an odd complaint, as Heard was the one who decided to go public with her accusations in the op-ed.

The NY Timex says, in its podcast:

We have to remember that, one of the original purposes of the MeToo movement was to create a space for women to come forward, and not be fearful that their lives will be destroyed by men who are much more powerful and well-resourced than them.
There you have it. The NY Times says that the whole purpose is for women to make unsubstantiated accusations against powerful men, without any fear of repercussions.

If a woman has evidence of a crime, she can take it to the police. Nobody is quarreling with that. No, this is not about criminal evidence. This is about taking down powerful men with bogus stories, and not fearing the consequences.

There was no good reason Heard, the ACLU, and the Wash. Post needed to libel Depp. They did it out of spite (Heard), corruption (ACLU), politics (Post). They should have had to fear the consequences of false accusations.

Dave Chappelle may be Canceled

The NY Times reports:
That’s all changed. Internally, the tech company that revolutionized Hollywood is now in an uproar as employees challenge the executives responsible for its success and accuse the streaming service of facilitating the spread of hate speech and perhaps inciting violence.

At the center of the unrest is “The Closer,” the much-anticipated special from the Emmy-winning comedian Dave Chappelle, which debuted on Oct. 5 and was the fourth-most-watched program on Netflix in the United States on Thursday. In the show, Mr. Chappelle comments mockingly on transgender people and aligns himself with the author J.K. Rowling as “Team TERF,” an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist, a term used for a group of people who argue that a transgender woman’s biological sex determines her gender and can’t be changed.

He is the leading comic about the Black experience. He is funny.

The people who work for Netflix and the NY Times are horrible leftist racist people. They say that because Chappelle is Black, then he is supposed to certain opinions about trannies.

His show is not against transgender rights at all. He is all in favor of such rights. He is just not on board with some of the demands of the extreme transgender activists.

Too bad. He was one of the last Americans with free speech. Not anymore, I guess.

That is not correct. I don't think Chappelle or Rowling ever said that sex determines gender. Gender, as the term is commonly used, is an identification choice, and obviously a man can choose to identify as a woman. Others may still consider that man to be a man.
On Wednesday, GLAAD criticized Mr. Sarandos’s claim that on-screen content does not lead to real-world violence. “Film and TV have also been filled with stereotypes and misinformation about us for decades, leading to real-world harm, especially for trans people and L.G.B.T.Q. people of color,” the organization said in a statement.
No, film and TV have not been filled with transgendered folks for decades. Maybe three years. And no opinions like Chappelle's have led to violence, as far as I know.

If anything might lead to violence, I would suspect organizations like GLAAD and opinions like this NY Times article. They portray transgender people as anti-social perverts who aggressively try to bully everyone into accepting their peculiar lifestyle choices.

Update: I watched to the end, and Chappelle reveals that he had a trans friend who was driven to suicide by Chappelle-haters. Amazing.

Norway bans private opinions about beliefs

Europe continues to show tolerance toward Islamic jihadists who want to kill them.

RT reports:

The Austrian Interior Ministry has confirmed earlier reports that the gunman behind the deadly Vienna attack met with a group of fellow jihadists from Germany and Switzerland in the country’s capital several months ago. ...

Austrian media reported earlier that more than a dozen of “young jihadists” from Austria, Germany and Switzerland gathered for what was described as “a three-country Islamist summit” in Vienna in mid-July. The meeting was said to have been organized by Kujtim Fejzullai, a 20-year-old Austrian native of Albanian origin who killed four people and wounded 23 more in the country’s capital on November 2.

This is the same Austria that jailed and expelled a historian for his opinion of Hitler's role in the Jewish Holocaust.

Norway is criminalizing private opinions:

Norway’s parliament outlawed hate speech against transgender and bisexual people on Tuesday, expanding its penal code which has protected gay and lesbian people since 1981.

People found guilty of hate speech face a fine or up to a year in jail for private remarks, and a maximum of three years in jail for public comments, according to the penal code.

Apparently the Norway law already punished public and private opinions concerning: skin color or national or ethnic origin; religion or belief; homosexual orientation; or impaired functional ability.

So it is a crime to badmouth someone's beliefs or mental impairments. If I call someone an idiot in Norway, I would be jailed for a year.

The law says "homosexual orientation", so I guess I could criticize someone's homosexual practices, as long as I do not refer to an orientation.

But could I badmouth the Islamic jihadists who are committing terrorist crimes in Austria? I am not sure.

The most censored American site is the Daily Stormer. It used to have a section where it blames everything on the Jews, but it got rid of the section in order to go more mainstream. But the election has caused a relapsed, and it posted this over-the-top rant:

The level of vitriol coming out of the Jewish media is frankly astonishing. I just watched a clip of Jake Tapper, a Jewish host of CNN, which aired Thursday, and I was astonished by the raw hatred on display.

Typically, these Jews tend to hide their disgust for the goyim a little bit. That has been happening less and less during the Donald Trump administration, as Jews have been unable to deal with the concept of a non-Jew being in control of America and running the country in a way that does not put the Jewish agenda first.

Remember: Jews believe that Christians are lower than animals. They believe that we only exist to serve them, because they believe that they are the master race. They believe that their god, who is a desert demon lord from the ancient world, has made them masters of the universe because of their bloodline. So there is always a seething hatred for all of us.

But the hatred that is coming out of the mouths of these Jews now that Trump is refusing to concede the election to this fraudulent claim by them, the Jewish media, that Joe Biden has won the election is taking hatred for the goyim to a whole new level.

According to this Jew Tapper:

“Trump is tweeting not just falsehoods, but literally deranged and debunked conspiracy theories”
“[Trump] is refusing to acknowledge the plain fact that he has been defeated”
“The coronavirus crisis is getting worse”
“Trump appears to be desperately, even pathetically, fighting to keep a job that he has no interest in responsibly performing”
“Unprecedented, unhinged behavior”
“The only questions remaining are the extent to which [Trump] will continue to be a sore loser and the lies he will continue to tell his supporters on his way out the door”
“[Defends the CIA like a good liberal]” ...

That is the lesson the Trump Experience: Jews are evil and they seek to destroy all of us because they hate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After they killed Christ, they devoted themselves to exterminating his followers. That is the entire purpose of the existence of Jews: they are a demon race, devoted purely to killing us off.

These Jews say that they are trying to create a New World Order in which they will rule over all of us as slaves, and force us to perform in their satanic rituals. However, as the great Christian leader Adolf Hitler said, this is actually a fake goal, and their real goal is simply to destroy all life on earth.

Okay, this is satire, and you may not appreciate the humor. I certainly think that the site should be able to criticize Tapper in this way, even if it is illegal in Norway and Austria.

Borat not funny

I tried to watch the new Borat movie, but it is not funny at all. I am not even sure why it is supposed to be funny. The movie ends with Rudy Giuliani being tricked into an interview with a 24-year-old foreign reporter. I guess Giuliani is supposed to be embarrassed, but nothing happens. I tried watching some Saturday Night Live clips, but they are not funny either. You would think that Trump and Biden would be easy targets. The late-night TV talk show hosts do not even try to be funny anymore. They just do some partisan political name-calling, and pretend it is humor.

The sea-lion meme

Apparently this 2014 Wondermark cartoon is famous for popularizing "sea lion" for a certain type of annoying person on the internet. I think it is trying to say that we are all entitled to our prejudices, without being called out for facts and evidence. Or maybe argumentative bystanders should not get in your face. Or maybe each race should stick to its own kind, I'm not sure.

Defining stupidity

This video ofMiss Teen USA 2007 has been view 50 million times, and Miss South Carolina's answer to a question has become the modern example of stupidity.

I don't see it that way. The video is amusing, but I say that the questioner is the real idiot. The teenaged girl is asked to comment on a claimed fact that is actually completely false. The question is unfair and she is not prepared for it under such high pressure. But what is the questioner's excuse? The questioner had plenty of time to research a question that made sense.

Miss South Carolina 2007 could be smart girl who happened to get flustered under pressure. But I am not sure that there is much hope for the questioner, the pageant officials, and all the pundits who ridiculed her without noticing how bad the question was.

Teen prankster arrested for racial joke

The NY Times reports:
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The authorities in southern New Jersey said Saturday that they had arrested a 16-year-old boy for activating a public-address system at a Wal-Mart store last week and ordering “all black people” to leave.

The boy, from Atlantic County, was charged by Gloucester County authorities with bias and intimidation and harassment in connection with the episode last Sunday. If convicted, he could face up to a year in a juvenile detention center, officials said. His name was not released because he is a minor.

According to the police, the boy picked up a public-address telephone in the Wal-Mart in Washington Township, one of two dozen accessible to the store’s customers, and said, “All black people, leave the store now.” ...

Investigators also scoured Facebook, MySpace and YouTube, and found postings, including some that the police chief said involved “kids bragging” about what happened.

With the help of anonymous tipsters, he added, investigators were led to the suspect, who was arrested Friday.
I can see why Wal-Mart is embarrassed, but what is the crime?

Wal-Mart could easily prevent this sort of thing if it wanted to. It could turn of the system when not in use. Apparently it has a store full of video cameras, but they did not record this.

The black people in the store did not leave, and assumed that it was a joke.

If no one was harmed, then what was the crime? Is rude behavior in a Wal-Mart now illegal?

I also heard this story reported on the radio. This is only news because some editors think that it is funny. So how are these editors better than that teenager? He risked offending a couple of black folks in the store, while the editors risk offending millions of blacks.

In other teen crime news:
In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs by cellphone or computer — known as “sexting” — have risked felony child pornography charges and being listed on a sex offender registry for decades to come.

But there is growing consensus among lawyers and legislators that the child pornography laws are too blunt an instrument to deal with an adolescent cyberculture in which all kinds of sexual pictures circulate on sites like MySpace and Facebook.
The problem here is that there are draconian penalties for behavior that today's teenagers see as harmless fun. The authorities are going to have to convince the teenagers that it is harmful, change the law, or prosecute a lot of kids.

Neanderthal med student article

An article by 24-year-old med student Brent Thoma drew this response:
"I can only hope that he is sincere in his decision to forgo a career in Family Medicine, thereby sparing countless future female patients the agony of having to deal with his apparent Neanderthal tendencies," one professor wrote. Several letters were subsequently sent to the journal defending the student.

At least one member of the public has also written to Canadian Family Physician demanding an apology and retraction.

"Congratulations on publishing the most offensive, insensitive article ever," wrote Grace Sanchez MacCall, a business owner from Toronto.

In an interview, Ms. Sanchez MacCall understood that the article addresses a legitimate issue. "But the way it was addressed, using humour ineptly, was completely inappropriate and had no place in being legitimized by a professional association's journal," she said.
The article obviously struck a nerve, as it appeared several months ago and people are still complaining about it.

Medieval superstitious nimrods

The Onion's top stories include Four Or Five Guys Pretty Much Carry Whole Renaissance:
"Our research indicates that da Vinci, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, and Galileo basically hoisted the entire intellectual transformation of mankind onto their shoulders while everyone else just sat around being superstitious nimrods," said Sue Viero of the Correr Museum of Art in Venice, Italy. ...

According to modern thought on the era, contributors to the Renaissance can be broken into two distinct groups: the brilliant few who, day in and day out, were thrusting society out of the depths of darkness and into the light of learning; and the rest of the so-called artists, mathematicians, and scientists, who were mostly all phoning it in.
Funny. Another top story is Woman Domesticated in around 3000 BC.
