Michael McClish to be charged with murder

I commented previously that Michael McClish was tried and convicted of rape on some very flimsy evidence. He did not get a fair trial. It appeared to me that he was framed because the authorities suspect him of murder, and could not prove it.

Now he is being charged with murder:
SANTA CRUZ - The only person ever publicly named a suspect in the 2006 murder of a pregnant Ben Lomond woman was arrested on two counts of murder Tuesday.

Michael Patrick McClish, 38, will be charged with the slaying of Joanna "Asha" Veil, 28, and her unborn child, Anina, today, according to authorities at the Wednesday afternoon press conference at the District Attorney's Office.
I hope he gets a fair trial. The authorities have finally revealed that the father of the unborn baby was the victim's estranged husband, not McLish. No motive or murder weapon has been reported.

I will be waiting to see the actual evidence. I know that there are a lot of local folks who think that McLish must be guilty because he has shifty eyes, or because he was once rude to a customer, or some similar reason. I hope that someone has better evidence than that.

DNA evidence found on Asha Veil's body has linked McClish directly to the crime. There's other evidence linking him to the crime, so it's worth a look-see in the Sentinel archives. The D.A. and the criminal investigators worked very hard for over a year before charging McClish, and they have a huge amount of incriminating evidence, much of which will not be brought out until the actual trial.

Perhaps you should study the case a bit more in-depth before you start writing about it. Your lack of sound research on this blog really undermines your credibility, sorry to say.

I have no way of researching the evidence that will not be revealed until the trial. As I said, I am waiting to see the evidence.

I've stopped looking @ all of the crud long ago. I realize that this was posted much earlier but I decided to see what was out there after talking to Mike the other day. Practically everyone who posts anywhere on the web appears to be media-struck. If it's in the paper it must be. Well, let me say to "a journalist" - you have ZERO idea of what you are speaking. There is absolutely NO possible way for you to know that there was "DNA evidence found on Asha Veil's body" b/c Mike's attorney hasn't even been given the info as to the EXACT "new evidence" that was supposedly found. Please, quit simply parroting what you've heard, wish to have heard or have surmised on your own. No, Roger, Michael did not do this. This is my first post ever and I probably won't be coming back to view again as human nature avails in this world & most who believe he is guilty simply want to. To back up a bit, personally, I'm NOT going to spend an entire weekend with my rapist (and his family) - regardless of how much I didn't want anyone to know I actually slept with him and so was trying to keep up appearances. She is a liar. Please note that I've not mentioned her name out of the kindness of my heart but I very much would love to post it on billboards everywhere. Thank you for allowing me to vent. BTW - unlike most people who like to bash anonymously, you'll notice also, that I've posted my name, not something generic.

You can post her name here if you wish. She was voluntarily in a home-busting relationship, and voluntarily brought bogus accusations in open court. There is no good reason to shelter her identity.

did she have prior contact with items? where the items in a area that could be accessed??

Hmmmmm anything to say about it now that all of the evidence has been presented and the verdict read?????? This case took a lot of time to build because they wanted to make sure that they had all of the evidence needed for a conviction.

Do you have anything new to say about this now that all of the evidence has been presented?

After a week of deliberation, the jury just found McClish guilty. He will probably get life in prison.

Yes, the prosecution did spend a lot of time and effort trying to build its case against McClish.

roger or anonymous--- because they did find the "main" murder weapon. Only "secondary" murder weapon, mike will get secondary degree murder-- third degree is 6 years- out in three with good time. Secondary murder is 10 -12 usually, mike will do half-if he does not lose his good time, on top that with good time and work time-- he'll be out probably in 7-6 years, if he got the full 15 years?? He'll get be out in 9-10, maybe sooner in a parole hearing.

excuse me DID NOT find the main murder weapon

this is jeffry helms-- the law is based on factual evidence not-some pre-arranged ideal, Mike is going to get out in a couple of years due to the secondary evidence of secondary murder-- the "rope" was used but the TRUE murder weapon--the "blunt object" was never found. Therefore mike will get the secondary murder term- which is: 10,12,15 years to life -- he'll get half time etc.like i said etc.

jeffry again,, He will in fact -have to live the rest of his life on parole, So mike can get yanked at any time and do a term -- which is probable , he'll have to report to a parole officer and live by restrictions etc--- personally I did not like the case at all against mike, it was secondary or third degree evidence and to go for a first degree charge was a waste of time without the "main" murder weapon linking him with evidence--- mike might have been set up by a wannabe??? "Germans" are sought after by the 10 lost tribe wannabe racketeering groups(the asian ones that went east in world war 2) which are in section 8 apts. all in the area-- mike's personality would have made him a fall guy.
