Apple has now banned Epic Games, maker of Fortnite, because one of its executive criticized Apple in this tweet:
Apple leadership faces some massive decisions in the coming weeks as the contradictions between their stated principles and the intended and actual consequences of their present policies are reckoned with: the app store monopoly, the digital goods payments monopoly, the tax, the…Seems mild to me. It did not even reference the Apple CEO's sexual preference!
Apple has confirmed this, and responded:
“Epic’s egregious breach of its contractual obligations to Apple led courts to determine that Apple has the right to terminate ‘any or all of Epic Games’ wholly owned subsidiaries, affiliates, and/or other entities under Epic Games’ control at any time and at Apple’s sole discretion.’ In light of Epic’s past and ongoing behavior, Apple chose to exercise that right.”The big tech companies have so much power that they can control what people say.
Here is a famous computer science professor who got locked out of Facebook, and only got back in when an employee noticed a gripe on the professor's blog. This may have been a mistake, but it may have also been punishment for his views. He has made some enemies by only going along with 98% of today's liberal orthodoxy.
My problem with Apple devices is that they are too confining. With them, your apps may be blocked. You cannot use standard chargers, earphones, and data cables. Their messaging apps do not work well with non-Apple devices. Their computers cannot run the best games or AI, because they block Nvidia chips. Their products cost twice as much as the competition.
Apple just released a $4000 goggles product. It is supposed to run a great demo, but few are buying.
Apple now says that it will reinstate the Epic Games account. We should not be slaves to the whims and bugs of these big tech companies.

Apple is a company that has pitched the 'lifestyle chic' ecosystem for quite some time. They are exclusive because they know exclusivity sells for those more interested in being 'looking or being perceived as unique and trendy' more than actually being useful.
Paying for very overpriced phones and utterly proprietary computers because I want to be 'seen' using them (a fashion statement) by my peers taps into a primal infantilism in folks who stress looking cool over actual capability or utility. This can easily be demonstrated by Apple's core demographic: mostly narcissistic young trendy people fond of groupthink and a certain political leaning. People not fond of this implicit motif are simply not wanted in the Apple community. Control of others perception is a big part of Apple's DNA.
