Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that white supremacy is “weaved” into America’s “founding documents” during a speech Wednesday to the National Action Network.I have mentioned here and here that there is a history of arguments that the USA was founded as a White supremacist nation. These arguments are being increasingly accepted by mainstream Democrats."I have seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles," said Thomas-Greenfield.
In addition to her remarks on white supremacy and its history in the U.S., Thomas-Greenfield told the activist organization that issues of “equity and justice” must be approached with “humility.”
Thomas-Greenfield also said the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery resulted from the nation's institutionalized white supremacy.
I do not think that this is a good strategy. This just encourages Whites to say "This is a White country, founded by Whites for Whites. If you are non-white, then go back to some other country with your own kind."
Update: The NY Post reports:
Emerald Robinson of Newsmax asked Psaki at her daily press briefing whether Biden is “going to remove her from her position” — saying the speech hit themes similar to an anti-US diatribe by Chinese diplomats in Alaska last month. ...“Is the president going to remove an African American woman with decades of experience in the Foreign Service who is widely respected around the world from her position as ambassador to the UN? He is not,” Psaki said.
