John Oliver goes on Nazi Name-calling Rant

I made the mistake of watching half of John Oliver's latest episode. He is hard to listen to because his accent makes him sound retarded, and because he has canned laughter to go with his frequent obscenities.

This one was about Republicans becoming anti-Jewish. As evidence, he said one Republican once posted a picture of his grandfather in a WWII Nazi soldier uniform. As another example, he said Tucker Carlson interviewed Nick Fuentes. But Carlson and Fuentes are not even Republicans, as they are urging votes for Democrats in the current election.

Meanwhile the Democrat Party is being taken over by anti-Israel leftists. A number of prominent Democrats now favor replacing Israel with a Palestinian Arab state. This is an anti-Jewish as you will hear from any American politician. Most Republicans are pro-Israel.

Of course it is an American political tradition to call your enemies Nazis. So I guess I can excuse Oliver calling people Nazis. But much of his argument is based on Republicans calling other Republicans Nazis.

Nazis were National Socialists, and it is today's Democrats who are embracing Socialism.

In the Gaza War, each side says the other side is like the Nazis. Such language is not helpful.
