Checking a box at the DMV could get you killed.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services confirms it has launched a "major initiative" to reform America's organ-transplant system after it stunningly revealed that dozens of organ donors may not have been dead when the process to procure their organs was started, and dozens more exhibited "neurological signs incompatible with donation."There is also the problem that organ donation devalues life."Our findings show that hospitals allowed the organ procurement process to begin when patients showed signs of life, and this is horrifying," explained HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The only part of human organ donation that is remotely selfless is the donor. Every other step of the considerable enterprise is about making as much money as possible for the medical industry. Strange that people are told they should selflessly donate parts of their very bodies when everyone else involved is clearly profiting financially.
If any doctor is put into a position to consider the health, treatment, and well being of the patient against how how they might efficiently cannibalize the same patient's body parts for treating someone entirely else, there clearly is a massive conflict of interest. The book and movie COMA by Robin Cook is an excellent warning about this very real concern.
People should also be aware that even if you didn't check the box for organ donation on your license, the hospitals will often put emotional pressure on families to donate the patients organs. This is completely unethical, but common. There are some cases the patient is actually injected with chemicals to help preserve the organs for removal but which actually kills the patient faster before any consent has been given for said removal while the hospital wheedles with the patients family for permission to harvest.
'Harvest' is literally the word used by the medical community for organ removal.
That's right, the donor is just making profits for others. If the donor were treated as valuable, then he would be paid.
