Right-wing Views More Diverse than Leftist

This 2023 study compared the diversity of left-wing and right-wing views in the USA.

A visual inspection of the network reveals two attitude clusters. ...

the cluster reflecting the Democrat belief-system almost exclusively contained extreme attitudes as indicated by strong disagreement with each of the eight items. Conversely, the cluster reflecting the Republican belief-system contained a wider range of attitude responses ranging from mild disagreement to maximum agreement.

Democrats and left-wingers often like to think of themselves as more open-minded, rational, and accepting of diversity. Yet the data clearly show that they subscribe to a groupthink conformity of thought, while right-wingers have much more diverse views.

It's much harder to think about something or change your mind when you have nothing else to compare your ideas to, and you are constantly told what ideas and words you are permitted to have. The left has quite recently come to resent anything that challenges their assertions. Freedom of speech and thought as well as historical context are no longer acceptable in the left's ever shrinking worldview.

thought diversity is not referring to what you think. right-wing groups are more likely to have mixed opinions on certain topics than the left. most leftists can agree on topics such as reproductive rights, scientific research, and certain freedoms, whereas right wingers are more "all over" the place. if you ask someone's opinion on abortion, for instance, you'd get an array of different answers. if you asked a leftist, however, you're probably guaranteed one opinion. this demonstrates how in more liberal groups, opinions are easily agreed upon. conservatives can't pick one general or concrete answer, their evidence and opinions are all over the place.
