The new plan — in which the overall population is set to slightly shrink, once all factors are considered — represents a sharp reversal from a population boom that strained housing, the job market and public services. Once a proponent of mass migration, Trudeau is backtracking amid souring public opinion on immigration and weak polling numbers for his Liberal Party.

Reducing the number of work and student visas awarded does not mean mass deportations. Allowing existing visas to expire does not necessarily mean "Canada to deport millions."
The increase in immigration over the past few years has no doubt contributed to problems in the housing and Healthcare fields, and while modifications to immigration policy on their own won't solve the problems, they seem a reasonable first step.
While the native English birth rate is declining, it appears the non-English birthrate, especially in those societies which allow multiple marriages, is increasing. In a worst case scenario, within the next two or generations, this country will not be recognisable. More mosques than Christian churches, a slow move into the acceptance of sharia law, and Islamic social mores seem to be the future. It seems that Pre Frazer was correct, all along.
