[Princeton economist Alan S.] Blinder estimates 30-40 million jobs are offshorable in the next 10-20years -- about one-fourth of our entire labor force. That's 10 times a published estimate ... quoted four years ago. Moreover, the jobs which Blinder lists as relatively safe from offshoring just happen to be the same types of lower-paid jobs that seem to be filled disproportionately by immigrants both legal and illegal.Blinder says that the USA has an urgent need to retrain everyone, because the only safe jobs are for divorce lawyers and civil engineers.
