Black Woman Statue in New York City

News:
A new 12-foot-tall bronze statue of a plus-size black woman, titled 'Grounded in the Stars,' has been installed in the middle of Times Square, New York City. The sculpture, created by artist Thomas J. Price, aims to challenge preconceived notions of identity and representation, according to the Times Square website.

The statue, which has drawn significant attention online, is part of a series that seeks to confront societal views on identity. It is described as a nod to Michelangelo's David due to its contrapposto pose, yet it also aims to disrupt traditional ideas of what constitutes a triumphant figure by celebrating marginalized bodies on a monumental scale.

Usually statues commemorate a great man who accomplished something, and try to be beautiful art. This is supposed to be the opposite.

This is weird to fetishize fat Black women. I see more and more examples of this.

Matt Walsh was commenting on these strange statues. Most of them are of overweight black women in tight stretchpants looking vapidly into their cell phones. Walsh commented that never before has so much effort and expense been put in realistic statues of overweight nobodys that don't even have a purpose for being there. None of the statues are of actual people with any particular intent other than that they 'represent' generic plus sized black women. Meanwhile, cities are removing statues of Christopher Columbus because of 'shame'.

Vapid, oblivious, and overweight is the new female standard of beauty being put forth as heroic art now.
