Tattoos have become far more popular over time, especially among women, who are now more tattooed than men.

I think there is a connection between mental illness and tattoos on many of these women, especially if they excessive and are on the neck or face. A strong desire to deface one's self is not a good thing.
It makes me cringe when I see a relatively attractive looking person who decided to take a permanent magic marker to their own face with the artistic skill of a seven year old in the delusional pursuit of self expression.
