The NY Times published a Lomborg op-ed saying the environmentist doomsday predictions are wrong. Now it publishes some predictable letters attacking him, but it is notable that they do not dispute his basic statistics.

Preserving the environment is a good thing, but the major environmentalist organizations are always lobbying for measures that are extraordinarily expensive, and which would have only a minor positive effect on the environment, at best. In some cases, they make the environment worse, such as with the anti-logging policies that have caused massively destructive forest fires in the western US.
